Doris Virginia Blessing

Doris M. Blessing, devoted mother and Nana, of Cumming, GA died peacefully Saturday, May 7, 2011. She was born December 7, 1921, in Leetsdale, PA, to Roy and Frances McCallister; she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James G. Blessing. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and J. Billie Ray, Osprey, FL.; Becky and Jim Baumgartner, Big Canoe, GA; and Diane and Randy Roberts, Cumming, GA; also surviving are six grandchildren, Chris Ray, Ben Baumgartner, Calli Ray, Kelli Baumgartner, Jennifer Roberts Shirey, and Kristi Roberts and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Melody Shirey. Other survivors include a sister, Jean Mercer, Melbourne, FL, and two nieces. Doris and Jim Blessing grew up in the small town of Baden, PA, and attended the same elementary school. Married in 1943, the couple lived in several states, for many years making their home in Atlanta and Roswell, GA. In 2004, Doris returned from Florida and resided at White Oaks at Lanier. The family wishes to especially thank every member of White Oaks Assisted Living staff in Cumming for the devoted care given our Mother and Nana. The family thanks Embracing Hospice of Cumming who ministered to Doris for the past eight months at White Oaks and at their facility.
