Donna Purgason

Donna Harper Purgason passed away peacefully on June 17th, 2026. She was born on May 23rd, 1941, in Benton Kentucky to parents Guy Harper and Clara Harper. Donna graduated from Benton High School in 1959 and Murray State University in 1963. She created lifelong friends in high school known as “Girls of 59”. During her career she worked for the Social Security Administration and Health Care Financing Administration at several locations across the southeast.

In 1972, she married the love of her life, Gerry Purgason. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised a blended family of 5 children.

She enjoyed creative hobbies and crafts including needlepoint, sewing, and scrapbooking. Her love could be felt in the works she created for others to enjoy. Through this, she formed bonds and friendships that would last a lifetime. She enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. Her favorite of which was a trip to London with her husband Gerry.

She was preceded in death by both her parents and her husband of 46 years. She is survived by her daughter Beth Krueger (Dennis), Jonathan Purgason (Nicole)her stepchildren, whom she referred to as her daughters; Sharon Camras (Tom), Polly Purgason (Christy), Tracy Moore (John), grandchildren Benjamin Camras, Allison Michaelis (Tim), Paige Hamby (Zach), Adrienne Wyssbrod (Austin), Jenna and Luke Moore, and 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday July 11th at McDonald Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Drive in Cumming, Georgia. A celebration of life will be held at the funeral home as well. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Condolences may be directed to the family.
