Donald E. Kopanoff

Donald Eugene Kopanoff, 80, of Cumming, GA passed away December 17, 2013. Born in Harrisburg, PA he was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Eunice Kopanoff. Donald worked at the Center for Disease Control for 34 years. After retiring, he enjoyed spending his free time traveling the world with his wife, as well as volunteering his time giving tours to school children at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. He is survived by his wife, Alyce Kopanoff of Cumming, GA; son, Donald (Heather) Kopanoff of Roswell, GA; daughter, Elisa (Mark) Caestecker of Thousand Oaks, CA; daughter, Kristen (Jim) Bibb of Duluth, GA; sister, Joanne Kambic of Steelton, PA; brother, Peter Kopanoff of Etters, PA; grandchildren, Brendan Bibb (11), Blake Bibb (11), Taylor Bibb (9), David Caestecker (10), Jennifer Caestecker (6); and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Cumming, GA. Visitation will be from 6:00 8:00 PM on Friday at McDonald & Son Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Fr. Frank Richardson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in Donald s name to the Gentiva Hospice Foundation at 7801 Mesquite Bend Dr., Ste. 105, Irving, TX 75063, or to The Church of the Good Shepherd / Building Fund at 3740 Holtzclaw Rd., Cumming, GA 30041.
