Donald A. Herrick

Donald A. Herrick, 83, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014. He was born July 10, 1931 in Chicago, IL. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and member of the American Legion Post 307. He resided in Cumming for 24 years and is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia of 62 years; his children Kenneth, Steven, Kevin, Brian, and Kathleen; his grandchildren Ryan, Jonathan, Timothy, Kara, Katrina, Randy and Rebecca; great grandchildren, Caitlin, Abigail, McKenzie, London, and Charlotte Rose. He is preceded in death by his son Jeffery and daughter-in-laws Linda and Kate. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America in various roles such as Cub Scout Leader, Boy Scout Leader, and Post Advisor; receiving numerous accolades such as the St. George Emblem from Cardinal John Cody. He was a mechanical engineer and held 2 US Patents. Inturnment will beheld on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA. with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
