Donald "Barry" Duffey

–

Cumming, Georgia

It is with heavy hearts that we celebrate the life of a man whose kindness, humor, and steady presence touched everyone who knew him.

Barry was a man deeply rooted in his faith, a pillar of his church community who showed up not just on Sundays, but whenever someone needed a helping hand, offered laughter when it was needed most, and carried a thoughtful spirit that made people feel truly cared for.

He had a love for sports that could fill a stadium especially when it came to his beloved Atlanta Braves and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Whether it was baseball season or any other sport on the calendar, Barry was all in. Watching, cheering, and probably offering his own colorful commentary. Golf, however, never quite made the cut in his book because let’s face it; golf isn’t even a real sport.

More than anything, he cherished his family. He never missed a chance to watch his great niece and nephew’s performances and games, proudly sitting in the stands, cheering louder than anyone else. Those moments meant the world to him, and his presence meant even more to them.

He was also the kind of uncle who created memories that lasted a lifetime. Like taking his nephew to see Beverly Hills Ninja in theaters, a simple outing that became a cherished memory.
To know Barry was to feel like family. He had a way of making everyone feel included, welcomed, and valued making him everyone's Uncle Barry. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith, presence, and will be remembered for his quick wit, his generous heart, and his unwavering love for the people in his life.

Though he is no longer with us, the joy he brought and the memories he created will live on by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

We invite all who were touched by Barry's spirit to join us in celebrating his life. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 5:00 pm at McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, Georgia, 30040. The funeral service will take place on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00 am at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1767 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming, Georgia, 30041, followed by a graveside service at the same location at 12:00 pm.

To end with the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "It is not length of life, but depth of life." Donald Duffey's life, though not without its trials, was a testament to the depth of the human spirit, to the unyielding strength that lies within each of us, and to the beauty that can be found in the simplest of moments. In remembrance of Donald, please share your cherished memories and upload photos to the memorial page as we celebrate the life of a man who was truly one of a kind.
