Darlene Lowry, age 90, from Atlanta GA, passed away Wednesday March 12 from complications from a fall on Sunday March 2.
Darlene was born on a Friday, September 14, 1934, in Atlanta, GA to Clara and Oliver Anthony Riley ("Riley") who we hope greeted her in heaven the minute she got there.
She attended O'Keefe High School in Atlanta where she was a Cheerleader, Best Dressed and "most likely to succeed".
She sang in the choir at church, this is where she met her Husband, Thomas Earl Lowry with whom she had 4
children during their amazing 62 years of marriage. The past several months she had been missing him so much. We so hope they are finally together.
Darlene loved being a mother, she was an only child, so we think that is why she had 4 children. She always wanted brothers and sisters. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother.
She spent most of her life living in Atlanta, but did also briefly reside in Florence SC, Birmingham AL and Charlotte NC. She worked in the banking industry till she was 70 years old.
She was very friendly and loved being around people. She loved playing her piano and loved her Black Lab dog River, who misses her terribly.
She was so loved and is survived by her 4 children, LeAnn Smiley (Mark), Clint Lowry, Gina Hayden (Matt), and Keith Lowry; 6 grandchildren, Courtney Rhodes (Corey), Christopher Lowry, Kevin Smiley (Kayla), Brooke Benoist (Jake), Riley, and Chase.
7 great grandchildren, Carter, Caden, Coleston, Nolan, Peyton, George and Sage
Visitation will be held at McDonald and Son 150 Sawnnee Dr. Cumming Ga Friday March 28 at Noon service to follow at 1 pm.
To all our family and friends reading this we are grateful for you and thank you for your love and prayers and wish for the deepest peace.
Our dearest mother will be forever loved and forever missed.
All the rivers run into the sea, and yet the sea is not full.
To the place from which the rivers come, there they return again.
