Crystal Sawyer

Crystal Christine Sawyer 44, of Dawsonville, Georgia passed away on Monday, March 10th, 2025.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Crystal Christine Sawyer, 44, of Dawsonville, Georgia, on March 10, 2025.

Crystal was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she encountered.

Born on August 29, 1980, to Teresa Christine (Johnston) Lester and Ricky Lee Cochran, Crystal was known for her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit. She dedicated her life to her family, especially her husband, children, and beloved pets, Lizzie the dog and her three cats. Crystal had a deep passion for cooking, often preparing large portions to share at family gatherings. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones, especially her granddaughter. In addition to her love of cooking, Crystal and her husband, Brent, enjoyed countless adventures together in their Jeep. They were active members of the Jeep community, participating in festivals, parades, and various events. Crystal also took great joy in volunteering her time to help others in the community. As an employee of the City of Cumming, she took pride in her work and her connection to the town. Recently, Crystal was exploring a new hobby—baking homemade bread for her family, a testament to her love for nourishing others. She also enjoyed raising chickens and having fresh vegetables in her garden. Her generosity and willingness to lend a hand made her a friend to all who knew her. Crystal’s legacy lives on through her boundless compassion and her ability to bring joy to others.

Crystal was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles L. Johnston and Goldie Christine (Shrewsberry) Abner of Coal City, WV; her paternal grandparents, Edward and Mary Cochran of Beckley, WV ; and her nephew, Phillip Cochran of Cumming, GA.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 20 years, Brent Sawyer; her two sons, Trent and Jaxon; her stepdaughter, Chastity Sawyer; her granddaughter, Constance Fitts; her dog Lizzie; and three cats. Crystal is also survived by her mother, Teresa Christine (Johnson) Lester of Beckley, WV; her father, Ricky and Trina Cochran of Covington, GA; her siblings, Joshua W. Lester of Beckley, WV; Nathaniel (Lauren) Cochran of Cumming, GA; and Jessica (Joshua) Godfrey of Adairsville, GA. She will be missed deeply by her nieces and nephews, who lovingly called her "Aunt CC," as well as her step-grandparents, Jack and Loretta Cantrell of Covington, GA. As well as her husbands’ parents Benny and Angela Sawyer of Murphy, NC.

Crystal’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at McDonald and Son Funeral Home on Sunday, March 16th, 2025 from 4:00pm-8:00pm. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family will accept flowers or you may donate in Crystal's name to the Humane Society of Forsyth County.
