Clint Matthews

–

Cumming, Georgia

Roy Clinton "Clint" Matthews III, of Cumming, Georgia, born on September 8, 1950, in Augusta, GA, USA, transitioned peacefully on June 17, 2024. Known as Clint, he was a spirited, supportive, and loyal individual who had an unwavering faith in the Creator. His loving nature was a testament to his strong Christian faith, which guided him throughout his life.

Clint was a retired gentleman who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. His passions included motorcycle riding, fishing, hunting, Bible study, reading, and writing. He was as comfortable in the quiet solitude of a fishing trip as he was in a lively discussion during Bible study. His supportive nature extended to those around him, providing a warm, safe presence in any gathering. As Aristotle once said, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." Roy embodied this through his consistent loyalty and devotion to his loved ones and faith.

Clint is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanne Matthews, his nieces, Kay Moon and Fay Kosinski; his great-niece, Kelley Kosinski; and his nephew, Justin Hobbs. He was predeceased by his parents, Roy Matthews and Virginia Jennie Brannon; his sister, Alexa Garmon; his brother, Currie Hobbs; and his aunt and uncle, Mildred and Cliff Freeman, and his cousin, William Freeman. His spirit, wisdom, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In the words of Martin Luther, "Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime." As we mourn the loss of our beloved Clint, we are reminded of his deep and abiding faith, a faith that assured him of a glorious resurrection. His life will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

We invite you to share your precious memories of Clint and upload photos to his memorial page as a tribute to a life well lived.

A memorial service will take place at Christ The King Lutheran Church on July 7th, 2024 at 1:00pm.
