Claude Chance Jr.

–

Alpharetta, Georgia

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Rev. Claude Richard "Dick" Chance Jr., a remarkable individual whose life was defined by his loving, humble, and compassionate nature. Born on June 21, 1969, Claude's life was a testament to dedication and love, characteristics that shone brightly in every endeavor he undertook. Rev. Claude Chance Jr. of Alpharetta, Georgia, left us on October 24, 2023.

Claude's dedication was unrivaled, whether strumming a guitar, singing a melody, or casting a line. His hobbies mirrored his spirit—free, wild, and harmonious. He cherished the tranquility of the outdoors, finding peace and joy in hunting and fishing. As the poet Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience." And Claude truly lived by this mantra, embracing every moment with grace and humility. His songs echoed through the pines, and his laughter danced on the river's current, creating a symphony of love and life that will be deeply missed.

Claude's love extended beyond the natural world, touching the lives of those he held dear. He leaves behind his father Claude Sr., ex-wife, Lisa Griffin, and sons, Evan Chance and Nathan (Katie) Chance. He also leaves behind his beloved brother, Michael Chance, and cherished daughter-in-law, Katie (Nathan) Chance. Claude was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Chance. In the words of Leo Buscaglia, "Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." Claude's life was a vivid demonstration of this power, and his legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was a family man and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys Nathan and Evan. Richard impacted everyone who knew him and he never met a stranger. He worked in construction all of his life went to church on Sunday and preached for the Lord, he was a man of many words and if he didn't like you he wasn't afraid to tell you. He was a hard working simple man and will truly be missed.
