Clarence Orville “C.O.” Woody (86) stepped into his heavenly home on December 28, 2024, after a brief illness. He was a man who loved his family and was a proud grandfather and Ga to everyone who knew him.
He was born on June 18, 1938, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to George Marvin and Mildred Woody. He grew up surrounded by his very loved siblings George, Becky, and Jim. He met his wife of 67 years, Pat, at church and they had a wonderful love story which is evident every day in the lives of his child, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who were the delights of his life.
C.O. was a proud army veteran, serving his country from 1956 until 1964. He had a wonderful and fulfilling career at Florida Power and Light Company for 42 years. Hired at 18 as an apprentice/helper, he worked his way up through the company becoming an electrician, chief electrician, assistant maintenance superintendent, director of nuclear energy, Vice President of Nuclear Energy, Senior Vice President of Power Generations and ending his career as President of the Power Generation Business Unit. After retiring, he continued to be hard-working at his home in Suches, always busy with a new project and serving as a volunteer fireman. His favorite job was being Ga, taking care of his family, a role he took with great seriousness. He was a member of Dahlonega Methodist Church and loved worshipping his Lord and Savior.
Awaiting him at Heaven’s gates were his mother, Mildred, Father, George Marvin, and brother, George with a host of other family members and friends.
C.O. will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family and loved ones. He leaves behind his wife, Patricia Gwynn; daughter and son in-law, Darlene and Jeff Bearinger; Granddaughters Elizabeth (Jay) Davis, Amy (Benjy) Edwards, and Susannah (Grant) Gibson.
