Christopher Reid Theus

–

Dahlonega, Georgia

Christopher Reid Theus passed away on October 7th 2022 while resting at home following a battle with lung cancer. He spent his last days surrounded by the love of family and friends at their family farm. He was born in Americus, Georgia on March 18, 1969 to parents Harold Theus and Marie Pevler.

His first job was working for his brother, Sidney H. Theus who paid him a dollar to talk to him while he washed the local school buses. He also worked in his daddy's Garage before graduating from Americus High School. He served honorably as a mechanic in the Army for over 5 years. While stationed at his first assignment in Fort Riley, Kansas, he met the love of his life, to whom he has been married to for over 34 years. After getting married in 1988, they moved to Bad Hersfeld, Germany and began a family of their own. He left the security of a military job in 1990 to partner with his brother and they formed American Painting and Renovations, Inc. (APR). Chris was COO at American Painting and Renovations, Inc., overseeing thousands of renovations across the country for more than 30 years. Their success inspired them to partner in several business ventures but two he was most proud of besides APR are Theus Properties and Theus Brothers Roofing where they used the calvary seal in their logo to honor his time in the military.

Chris spent much of his free time with countless charities including but not limited to Lanier Boating Club, RRA/EnAble, Wounded Warriors, Gold Star Families "Believe with Me", The Lanier Poker Run, and the Lake Lanier Association. He was also involved in numerous business organizations including the National Apartment Association, Georgia Apartment Association, Atlanta Apartment Association, and the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.

Chris was a fighter and had a strong positive outlook on life. He had a big heart and touched so many lives with his generosity and kindness. He spent much of his time doting on his children and loved ones. He loved to smoke BBQ and collected and tried out so many new recipes. He loved helping others and guiding so many people to start their own business. He loved deep sea fishing and dreamed of catching a Blue Marlin. He loved boating and was passionate in sharing his knowledge about boating and water safety with others. He recently renewed his faith and was baptized by The Reverend Gerhard C. Michael, Jr. of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Dahlonega, Georgia. He was a major car enthusiast and was so proud of his new Ford Galaxie he named "Driving Miss Rylee". He hoped to fix it up so that he could drive his family to church each Sunday.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Shannon Theus. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Floyd and Nadine Preskitt, Wallace Reid Theus, and Ina Grace Owens Theus, and his father, Wallace Harold Theus. He left behind his mother, Marie Pevler, his stepfather Larry Pevler, his siblings Sidney H. (Cindy) Theus and Dawn (Barry) Peeples. Survived by children Ryan Theus, Jessica Lemen, Emily (Jonathan) Chester, Josh Theus, Rylee Theus, Connie (Larry Wade) Grammar, Jonathan (Lavonda) Vickery, Nick Vickery, and Nathan (Chea) Holden. Other Survivors include his Aunt Sue and Uncle Bobby Martin, Jay (Julie) Talley, Kendra (Scott) Wilson, Gretchen (Toby) Wood, and Jarrod Talley who was like a brother to him. He left behind 16 grandchildren and too many beloved family members to mention. He loved all his nieces and nephews like they were his own children.
