Cecile Burns Hester

Cecile Burns Hester lived life to its fullest as a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, friend and accomplished athlete. Cecile passed away on May 4th, 2021 at the age of 92.

She was born Flois Cecile Burns in Birmingham Alabama to parents Alvin Cecil Burns and Flois Marie Drake on June 22nd, 1928. After High school, Cecile married the love of her life Robert Middleton Hester and together they had 4 children, Nance, Barbara, Warren and Donald.

After raising her family, Cecile had a fulfilling 18-year career working for The Southern Company in communications until the age of 68. But she was just getting started! She continued work with Kimberly Clark then numerous auto delivery services up to age 90. Her work ethic was apparent in everything she did.

After the passing of her husband, Cecile met Ben Wiseman whom she shared many years of love and laughter. Ben and Cecile went on to travel the world, visit with grandchildren and play games. She lived an active lifestyle enjoying much of her time playing tennis and making wonderful friends in the tennis community. Her skill and passion for tennis gained her notoriety on and off the court.

Cecile is survived by her children Nance Walker, Barbara Stone and Donald Hester; her daughter-in-law Julee Hester; and her grandchildren Brittany Hester, Hannah Hester and Garrett Hester. She is preceded in death by her parents Alvin Cecil Burns and Flois Marie Drake; husband Robert Middleton Hester; son Thomas Warren Hester; sisters Gwendolyn Burns Burgner and Jean Burns Sheets; and son in laws Bryan Cloud and Johnny Walker.

A Celebration of life is scheduled for June 3 at 11AM at McDonald Funeral Home in Cumming Ga. Please join the family to remember Cecile and celebrate her life!
