Catherine McKelleget

–

Suwanee, Georgia

Catherine Fancher McKelleget, lovingly known as Kate, passed away on October 17, 2026, in Cumming, Georgia. She was born on October 19, 1942, in Alexandria, Virginia. Throughout her life, Kate’s story was shaped by her family, her years of professional service, her Catholic faith, and the personal interests she held dear.

Kate was very young when her father, William Dennis Fancher, was shot down during World War II. Although she lost him at an early age, she remained deeply proud of her father and his service to his country. Her mother later married Dr. William Delaney, and Kate grew up alongside her younger sister, Toni Underwood.

Kate shared 59 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Lance Arthur McKelleget. Their many years together were an important part of her life and a lasting part of her family’s story.

Throughout her working years, Kate spent many years actively involved with Birthright, dedicating her time to the organization. She also worked in an administrative capacity for the Navy Department of Defense.

Kate’s Catholic faith held a significant place in her life. She loved animals and enjoyed reading, particularly the novels of her favorite author, Stephen King. These interests were among the many things that made her life uniquely her own.

Kate was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lance Arthur McKelleget; her father, William Dennis Fancher; her mother, Dorothy Devine Delaney; and her stepfather, William Morgan Delaney.

She is survived by her son, Lance “Kevin” McKelleget; her daughter-in-law, Annette McKelleget; her younger sister, Toni Underwood; her two grandchildren, Sean McKelleget and Camryn McKelleget; and her two great-grandchildren, Addison McKelleget and Haley McKelleget.

Kate’s life was shaped by her experiences, her beliefs, her interests, and the family and friends who shared in her journey. She will be remembered by those who knew her, and her memory will live on through her family and the generations that follow.

Funeral and memorial arrangements will be announced at a later date.

May Catherine rest in eternal peace.
