Catherine Gideon

Catherine Woolley Gideon, age 73, died February 7, 2020, in the presence of her husband, James Johnson "Jim" Gideon. She was born in Aldrich, AL, February 17, 1946, in her family home, to Roy and Elinor Woolley. She is survived in death by her husband of 49 years and her three sons, James Johnson Gideon, Jr., Benjamin Roy Gideon, and David William Gideon. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law Brooke Russell Gideon, Laura Susan Bamberg Gideon, and Kristen Triplett Gideon, as well as her five grandchildren. She was a woman of strong faith in both God and country, who loved spending time with her grandchildren more than anything. She always looked for the best in any situation. She attended law school and went on to work in the insurance industry. She served in the public school system of Georgia for 12 years before retiring. An avid reader of mystery novels, she also played competitive tennis for 15 years. She loved being on the water in the family boat, as well as water skiing and taking trips to the family condo in Orange Beach, AL later in her life. An avid Auburn University fan, she greatly enjoyed and took interest in Auburn football. Visitation will take place Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 10-12 p.m., followed by her funeral service from 12-12:45 p.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA 30040. A reception will follow the service. A graveside service will be held in Montevallo, AL Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Montevallo Cemetery from 2-3 p.m. Flowers accepted or memorials can be made to the The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O.
