Catherine Daichendt

–

Gainesville, Georgia

Catherine Jean Housley Daichendt departed this world peacefully on April 30, 2025, embraced by the love of her family in Cumming, Georgia. She was 84 years old. At her side were her devoted husband, John Daichendt; her children Stephanie Daichendt Scanlon (Robert), Alyson Daichendt, and Chris Daichendt; and her cherished grandchildren Catlin Scanlon Rios (Aaron), Kirsten Scanlon Lokey (Garrard), Jackson Daichendt, Padraic Daichendt, and great-grandson, Liam Lokey. Catherine is also survived by her sister, Nancy Walsh (Bruce), niece Catherine Walsh (John), and nephews Terry Daichendt (Ann) and Benjamin Walsh (Darren) as well as multiple cousins, nieces and nephews on both sides of her family. They will all remember her as the kind, loving and generous person she was. Catherine's essence transcended simple description. She poured her heart into being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, while also building a remarkable life as a history teacher and successful entrepreneur who established her own Tupperware franchise that she was proud to run. She found joy in the art of quilting and lost herself in the pages of books. She loved a good cup of coffee, watching tennis (every single tournament) and hockey in the form of the Detroit Red Wings. She never had idle hands. Her lion-hearted spirit and practical wisdom became a legacy she instilled in her descendants. When faced with life's challenges, Catherine met them with unwavering persistence, quiet grace, and profound dignity. In family conversations and sharing stories upon her departure, her family reflected on her warmth and kind words that she was always willing to share unabashedly. Catherine will be missed beyond what words can convey and her family are all confident that she is now flying with the angels that preceded her in death. A Celebration of Life service to honor her life will be held in July 2025 at the home of her daughter, Stephanie, with details to be communicated later.
