Carroll Kates

Carroll James Kates, 79, passed away Nov 14, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alcy (Junior) and Sudie (Sue) Kates; and late wife Beverly who passed in 2013. He is survived by his wife Carol; children Jana and Davin (Teresa) Kates, Chris (Sarah) and Mike (Mellisa) Harris. Grandchildren Tyler and Sarah (Jonathan) Kates, Casey and Shannon (Angela) Waters, Henry and Charlotte Harris.
Born in Waynesville, NC, he attended Clyde HS before attending Massey Business College. He was a charter member of Cumming Baptist, where he met then married his wife Carol (Jackson) in 2021.
After a career in transportation, he retired from Consolidated Freight. He was a lifetime member of Lafayette Lodge #44 and the Cumming Shrine Club. He loved fishing, camping, traveling, and cheering for the Falcons, the Braves, and the Georgia DAWGS! He was fiercely loyal and generous to anyone in need.
