Carolyn Haines DiVirgilio was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 14, 1931. She graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and received a BS in Education and a Masters in 1952.
She married Dr. James DiVirgilio in Nottingham, PA in 1956. With their three children in tow, she and Jim spent three years in the Philippines serving at the International School. They then moved to Ellicott City, Maryland for the next 36 years.
She loved teaching and taught school for 34 years. She was awarded Teacher of the Year for the state of Maryland. She had a way of making every child feel loved and special.
Carolyn and Jim then moved to Cumming, GA in 2002.
Carolyn had a generous and loving spirit that filled the room. She was a woman that lived her life knowing that she was a daughter of The King. She has mentored so many women by living a confident life that modeled Christ.
Carolyn was promoted to her fullest life on June 23rd at home. She taught us our final lesson as we watched her so gracefully and joyously pass from this life to her eternal life with her Savior.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her son Jon, and her daughter-in-law Julie. She is survived by her sisters Edie, Jane, and Diane and her brother George, her son Doug and his wife Lynn, daughter Liz Anne and her husband Jon, her 7 grandchildren and her 3 great grandchildren.
Blessed are those who walk in the light of Your presence (Psalm 89:15).
In lieu of flowers, charitable gifts may be made in her name to The Vine Community Church. Carolyn always had a heart for missions. These gifts will be designated to Missions.
