Versie Brown

–

Cumming, Georgia

Brenda Versie Brown of Cumming, Ga., passed away on April 12, 2024, after a lifetime spent loving her family and serving the deaf community.

Versie, 75, a native of Columbus, Ga., was the daughter of deaf parents, and she graduated with an associate degree in sign language interpreting from Dekalb Community College.

That became her life’s calling and profession, one that she cherished in addition to the people she helped along the way.

Versie was a free spirit who enjoyed her friends and family and was privileged to give of herself in countless ways.

She was a fabulous Mom, Sister, Aunt, Grammie and Daughter, and her infectious laugh and good spirits will be missed by all who knew her, including her Sunday School class and others at Creekside Church in Cumming.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Joyce Brown.

She is survived by her sister, Debbie Provano (Mark), of Louisville, Ky.; two daughters, Kim Hurst and Daphne Allred, of New Orleans, La.; a son, AJ Muldowney (Jeanne), of Newnan, Ga.; five grandchildren, Sarah Allred, Sabrina Allred, Todd Allred Jr., all of New Orleans, and Mila Muldowney and Connor Muldowney, of Newnan;  a niece, Jennifer Collier (Julian) of Great Falls, Va.; a nephew, Matthew Provano (Jennifer) of Lexington, Ky.; three great nephews, Will Collier and Jamie Collier, of Great Falls, and Henry Provano of Lexington; and three aunts, Jimmie Maner of Albany, Ga., and Martha Ann Tillery and Margaret Dansby, both of Columbus, Ga.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on May 4 at McDonald and Sons Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Drive in Cumming.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Heart Association.
