In Loving Memory of Bobby Lee Shirley
March 2, 1952 – July 8, 2026
Mr. Bobby Lee Shirley, age 74, of Cumming, Georgia, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on March 2, 1952, Bobby was a lifelong resident of Cumming, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and friendship. He was the kind of man who never met a stranger. He loved to laugh, tell stories, and “shoot the bull,” leaving everyone with a smile.
Bobby was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family. He was genuine, kind-hearted, strong, and just feisty enough to keep everyone on their toes. Those who knew him loved him for exactly who he was. Above all else, he was a devoted Husband, Dad, Poppy, Great-Poppy, and Brother. The love he had for his family was evident in everything he did.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Shirley and Euna Lee Shirley; and by his brothers, Waymon Shirley, John Wayne Shirley, and Eddie Shirley.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 49 years, Kathy Shirley of Cumming, Georgia. His loving children, Steven Shirley (Christina) of Cumming, Georgia, and Brandon Shirley (Heather) of Chauvin, Louisiana.
His cherished grandchildren, Kaylee Shirley (Chandler) of Dahlonega, Georgia; Alyssa Pettis (Ethan) of Dahlonega, Georgia; Peyton Lindsey of Cumming, Georgia; and Jason Shirley of Cumming, Georgia. He was the proud great-Poppy of Penelope and was awaiting the arrival of another great-granddaughter.
His siblings: Janice Green (Gary) of Cumming, Georgia; Billy Shirley (Mary) of Cumming, Georgia; Sammy Shirley (Rene) of Moorcroft, Wyoming; and Elaine Dodd, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Bobby’s legacy of love, kindness, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family will live on through the many lives he touched, the stories he told, the wisdom he shared, and the love he gave so freely will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Bobby’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Local Church Dawson, with light refreshments to follow. Family and friends are invited to come together to share memories, celebrate his life, and honor a man who was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
