Bobby Dan James

Born September 23, 1937 to Wilma and Eulas James in Clinton Arkansas. Bob is the older brother to Jerry James and Barbara Ann Lyles.

Bob is the husband to the love of his life Shirley Shaw James. They have been married for 67 years.

Bob is Daddy to 4 daughters, Leisa James Smith (Kevin), Danisa James Meriwether (Spence), Shawna James Sanford (Billy) and Janna James Allman (K.C.).

Bob is Grandaddy to 8 grandchildren, Erin Tidwell (Trey), Justin Smith (Alexis), Alison Meriwether, Christopher Smith, Hannah Sanford, Sean Sanford, Cole Allman (Briana), and Emily Allman.

Bob is Great Grandaddy to 3 great grandchildren, Emma Grace and Anna Beth Tidwell and baby Smith.

Bob is Uncle Bob to many nieces and nephews.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Eulas and Wilma James, his sister Barbara Ann and his daughter Shawna Sanford.

Bob's career with the United States Forest Service took his family to California, South Carolina, Arkansas, Oklahoma and finally Georgia. Bob loved his career with the U.S. Forest Service. He was passionate about all things to do with trees and most definitely about fighting forest fires. His love and appreciation for God's creation was unmatched. While working with the U.S. Forest Service, Bob and Shirley made many lifelong friends and enjoyed traveling all the national forests.

Bob loved serving the Lord in many capacities. Wherever they lived he was quick to get his family involved in church. His love for Jesus drove him to share the gospel with anyone and everyone he met, even as late as his latest hospital stay; he was sharing the gospel with his nurse.

Bob loved his family and friends deeply. Always quick with a smile and a helping hand. But his love for his family and friends could not compare to his love for his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.

On April 28, 2025, his Lord welcomed Bob into heaven no doubt saying, "Well done my good and faithful servant, WELL DONE!"

A funeral service honoring Bob's life will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 2:00PM, at First Baptist Cumming. The family will receive friends from 12:00PM, until time of service.
