Billy Ray Ball

Billy R. Ball, 79 of Cumming Georgia. Went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 23, 2024. Surrounded by family and friends, his journey ended in the comfort of his own home.

Billy was born in Cartersville, Georgia, the oldest of 11 children to Clemuel “Russell” Ball and Margie McGinis Ball. The family moved to the Chicago area in the early 50’s. Part of the family moved back to Georgia in the early 70’s. Billy settled in Cumming, Georgia where he lived until his death. He met his wife Jan, and they enjoyed travelling with family and friends, especially cruising. They raised Billy’s great-nephew Russell Morgan as a son.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, brother’s, James (Libby) Ball and William (Monique) Ball. Sisters, Auby (Tom) Britton, Linda Morgan, Willie “Sue” Ortiz, Geneva Ball, Elaine Howard, Rosie (Eddie) Whistler and Shirley Ball. Sister-in-law Joanne Ball and his wife Janice Hampton.

Survivors include his brother Danny Ball, his great nephew Russell Morgan, Sister-in-law Iris (Ray) Wondoloski, Adoptive family Jim and Marilyn Welch, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Billy was a Tool and Die maker and retired from Impulse Mfg. in Dawsonville, GA. Billy was a member of “Brotherhood of Direct Descendants of Santa Claus” and Forbs (Fraternal Order of real beards Santa’s).

He was an active member of St. Edwards Episcopal Church in Lawrenceville and a founding member of “the Brotherhood”. Many enjoyed his cooking at the fish fries and breakfast over the last 15 + years.

The family wants to thank Elizabeth for being his care giver. He loved you and you truly made a difference in his life these last few months. Also, Agape Hospice, especially Dereece, his case manager and the many other caregivers who cared for him at his home. He truly loved you all.
