Betty J. (Grainey) Reeder

Betty J. (Grainey) Reeder, 93, passed away on December 17, 2017. She lived in Cumming, GA and was formerly of Mt. Lebanon, PA, Wilmington, DE, Columbus, OH and Huntingdon, PA.

Born September 18, 1924 in Mapleton, PA, Betty was the daughter of the late Clyde and Pearl (Brenneman) Grainey. She was united in marriage to Clyde Reeder December 27, 1946, at the 15th Street Methodist Church in Huntingdon.

Betty is survived by her husband Clyde, her daughter Sarah Rogers and spouse Lloyd of Page, AZ, daughter Amy Reeder and spouse Anna Williams of Winterville, GA, and her son David Reeder and spouse Anna of Atlanta, GA; her granddaughters Alexandra Reeder of Camp Pendleton, CA, Melissa Reeder of Atlanta, GA, Briana Rogers of Ft. Collins, CO, and grandson Sean Rogers and spouse Cheryl and great-granddaughter Bailey of Marietta, GA.

Betty was preceded in death by her sister Cordelia Wright and brother John Grainey and her half siblings Robert, Thomas and Palmer Weaver and Sue (Weaver) Hoover.

Betty was a 1942 graduate of Huntingdon High School. She worked at Bell Telephone in Huntingdon, PA and Columbus, OH. She was a life member of the Standing Stone VFW post 1942 Huntingdon auxiliary.

While Betty worked outside the home before having children, her dream was to be a homemaker. She loved family. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a can-do woman. She was an encouraging soul to those around her and taught by her example how to love deeply. Her smile and the twinkle in her eyes warmed those she met. She is deeply loved and will always be remembered.

Visitation will be at 11 am Saturday, December 23, 2017 followed by a service at noon. It will be held at McDonald and Son Funeral Home at 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA, 30040.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Betty to the Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.
