Betty Gautier

Betty Lou Turnage Gautier, age 77, passed away peacefully March 23, 2024, at her home in Cleveland following an extended illness. She was a hairdresser for many years. She loved a good sense of humor - her husband and brothers made her cackle with laughter countless times. She had the most beautiful cursive handwriting, and she absolutely adored young children. She dedicated her life to caring for her disabled daughter, Tonya, and they loved each other beyond measure.
Born in Kinston, North Carolina, on December 17, 1946, Mrs. Betty was the daughter of the late George and Nannie Mae Williams Turnage. She was married to her loving husband Jimmie Wilson Gautier for 49 years before his death in 2015. Survivors include her daughters, Tonya and Tosha Gautier; son, Jimmy Gautier Jr.; brother, William (Wanda) Turnage; granddaughter, Miranda Gautier, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews of her 7 siblings who affectionately referred to her as “Aunt Boot”.
Per her wishes there will be no service. The family wishes to thank Dr. Wylie Newton as well as the Hospice of NGHS for their excellent care. Rest in Peace, Pritzy!
