Bette Elaine Lovell

–

Cumming, Georgia

Bette Elaine Lovell (Stevens) passed away on March 27rd 2023

She was born on January the 16th 1930 to Edwin and Elsie Stevens in Platteville Colorado.

Bette is preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Lovell, parents, Edwin and Elsie Stevens, and siblings Bill and Charles. She is survived by her two sons Dale Lovell and Gary Lovell.

While working at the USO in Denver, she met and fell in love with Jessie Allen Lovell, an enlisted Army-Air Force patriot. After being married they moved to Gainesville Fl where Allen attended the University of Florida where Bette gave birth to Gary. Upon graduation Allen reenlisted in the Air force and moved back to Colorado where Bette gave birth to Dale. They lived in many places. Denver, Houston, Abilene, Fort Worth, Wichita, Charlevoix Michigan, Sacramento Ca, and Wilton Manors Florida. When Bette turned 88, she moved to Forsyth County Georgia.

Bette loved nature and being outside, she especially loved being in the mountains. Seeing wildlife was always a special delight for her.

In the 80's with the help of close friends Renee and Kathy, Bette opened a Christian book store, Sonshine Books, in Wilton Manors Florida.

Bette was a devoted member of the Calvary Chapel in Ft Lauderdale. She had a very deep understanding of scripture and was always studying and learning. That knowledge allowed her to edify the lives of everyone around her, serving the Lord in the best way she knew how. A woman of true integrity. Always honest, and thoughtful, but stood her ground well when challenged. For the last several years she was attending a Sunday Vespers group and loved her time with everyone there, and considered them part of her family, and it really showed as they supported her beyond all expectations while her health was failing.

Funny and off the cuff, she always had something to say that might just take you off guard and make you laugh.

Burial was held at the South Florida National Cemetery on April the 5th at 1:30PM and was attended by her sons, Gary and Dale, Gary's son Robert, Dales wife Dena, and 2 close friends of the family, Karen and Ilene. A celebration of life will be held sometime in May.
