Barbara A. Wood

Barbara A Wood, a renowned impressionist artist, passed peacefully in her sleep in Dahlonega, Georgia, at 96, one day before her 97th birthday.

Barbara is survived by her loving children, Greg and Heba Wood, Michael and Jane Wood, and Juli and Steve Stern, along with seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Barbara was born in Columbus, Ohio. She studied art at institutes in New York City and California. In her lifetime Barbara amassed a large body of work and began exhibiting throughout the country and the world, including one-woman shows in England, Scotland, and Japan.

As a renowned artist, Barbara lived as if her life were a work of art. To her, color was music, and she loved to dance in it. She was rarely happier than when sharing her love of art with others. Her generous heart and kind soul carried her through a life of joy and hardship with a resilience forged by the belief that "Where there's a will, there's a way." There was great pride in her strength and autonomy, which she illustrated beautifully through her paintings. Barbara inspired nearly everyone whose lives she touched with her creative perspective, her colorful view of life, and, most of all, her love's generosity.

Barbara was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
