It is with broken hearts, that we announce the passing of Barbara Sullivan Coberly on February 22, 2025.
Barbara was born on March 27th, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa. It was there she met the love of her life, Conrad Clark Coberly. They were married on May 8,1964. After the birth of their children, they left Sioux City, moving to Illinois, Idaho, California, Utah, and Kansas before finally settling in Roswell, Georgia.
Barbara’s insatiable curiosity and voracious appetite for learning shone throughout her life, as evident in every role she took. In Roswell, she became a bank teller and quickly rose to become a loan officer, a career she loved and excelled at for nearly 30 years.
Barbara loved meeting people, and never met a stranger—and if you had a good joke to tell, that was icing on the cake.
Having lived in so many places, Barbara valued the importance of family and prided herself in hosting every holiday. She loved cooking and setting a beautiful table for her family and friends. Conrad was the ultimate sous chef and together they made quite a team.
Above everything else, her granddaughters were her passion. She poured her love into them and was their biggest supporter. “Bubby” instilled in the girls her love of cooking and joy. On many occasions, they would all come home from an afternoon of shopping and lunch to host a living room fashion show that outshined any runway.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Conrad Coberly; her two children, Cathy Coberly Veldhuis (Jon Veldhuis) and Christopher Coberly; her three granddaughters, Katrina Veldhuis Luczak (Anthony Taylor Luczak), Taylor Veldhuis, and Annie Veldhuis; and her brother, John L. Sullivan.
A service will be held at McDonald and Son’s Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life to follow. Please contact the family for further details.
