Cumming, Georgia

CHARLES ARTHUR (ART) DEEMS, JR. DECEMBER 31, 1922 APRIL 16, 2012 Art was born and raised in Davis, West Virginia. He was very proud to be a West Virginian. In his teens he worked in the coal mines and the CC camp. He later moved to Hagerstown, Maryland and worked at Fairchild, where he met and married Lucy Ellen Smith, his wife of 65 years who predeceased him in 2009. He was then drafted into the military and served with the US Army in Germany during WWII. After returning from the war, he returned to Fairchild Aircraft. Art then moved to Dallas, TX with Ling-Temco-Vought. After LTV, Art took an offer from Lockheed and moved to Marrietta, GA and stayed with Lockeed until his retirement in 1981. Art s compassion was playing the fiddle and making people smile. It is an understatement to say that he touched many hearts with his smile and his junk fiddling . Art is survived by his three children, Jerry Deems (Barbara) of Alpharetta, Darlene Hart (Don) and Cindy Nelson (Don) of Federal Way, WA. His surviving grandchildren are Chris Deems (Lindsay), Jill Deems, Jennifer Paufler (Glenn), Wesley Nelson and Natalie Nelson. His surviving great grandchildren are Jake and Emily Paufler, Delaney Deems and Lucy Schiro. We love you and will always remember you, Grampies! Art s Celebration of Life will be April 25, 2012 at 4:00 at Kingswood Community Clubhouse, Kings Common Way, Cumming, GA 30040. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by McDonald and Son Funeral Home, Cumming, GA 30040 770-886-9899
