Anthony “Tony” George Tsapralis, 63, passed away on May 31, 2026. Born on November 4, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, Tony lived a life marked by service, intellect, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the world around him. His journey was one of dedication — to his country, his work, his heritage, and most of all, to the family he loved.
Tony earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Loyola University, graduating in 1983. He went on to serve a decade of distinguished duty in the United States Army Signal Corps from 1983 to 1993, rising to the rank of Major. His military career culminated in his role as Company Commander with the 10th Mountain Division during Operation Restore Hope in Somalia, where he led with steadiness, discipline, and deep commitment to his soldiers.
After completing his military service, Tony continued his dedication to helping others by teaching special education in upstate New York for three years. In 1996, he transitioned into the field of computer engineering, where he spent three decades designing computer equipment and applications. His sharp mind, curiosity, and problem solving spirit fueled a successful career until his retirement in 2026.
In 2001, Tony married Beverly Vogel, the love of his life. Together, they built their dream home and life in Dahlonega, Georgia, settling there in 2003. Surrounded by mountains, wildlife, and quiet beauty, Tony found the place where his spirit felt most at home.
Tony was an avid model train collector and hobbyist, a passion that brought him joy, creativity, and a deep sense of connection to history. He loved living in the mountains, where he spent countless hours enjoying the outdoors and the abundance of wildlife. A lifelong student of military history, Tony also took great pride in studying his ancient Greek heritage, honoring the culture and lineage that shaped him.
Tony is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly; his stepson, Jeremy; his brother, Nicholas; sister in law, Andrea; and nieces Ariana and Alexis. He is preceded in death by his father, George Anthony Tsapralis, and his mother, Georgia Tsapralis.
