In Loving Memory of Andrew Michael Mantyka
August 13, 1959 – September 1, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Andrew Michael Mantyka, who departed this life on September 1, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on August 13, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the beloved son of Alexander and Gertrude Visnar Mantyka, who preceded him in death.
Andrew was a devoted husband to Lydia Mantyka, with whom he shared over four decades of marriage since their wedding in 1984. Together, they built a loving family and raised two children whom he lived his life for: Tonia Oshinski (Husband: Daniel) and Alexander Mantyka (Wife: Taylor). He was a proud grandfather to Rylin Oshinski, who brought him immense joy. Andrew is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Nadia and Jeff Melzer and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter and Lynnetta Babuchiwski.
An accomplished graduate of Long Island University, Andrew devoted his life to public service through his work with the United States Department of Justice. His career was cut short by a life-changing injury in 1993, but his dedication to serving others never wavered. In retirement, he found renewed purpose volunteering with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and The Patriot Guard Riders, offering support and tribute to veterans and their families. Andrew’s unwavering commitment to justice, integrity, and community left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Outside of his professional life, he found great happiness in his family and life-long friends. Andrew was a devoted Christian, and was a founding member of the St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Dawsonville, Georgia. He was deeply connected to his Ukrainian heritage and took great joy in meeting others who shared his cultural roots. His pride in his ancestry was evident in the way he celebrated traditions and built community wherever he went.
Andrew was an avid outdoorsman, sports enthusiast, and enjoyed traveling with his family. His loyal dog Nelson was a constant companion and source of comfort.
He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his quiet strength, and his enduring sense of humor. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025 from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. The funeral service will be at 2:00pm in the chapel at McDonald and Son Funeral Home, immediately following visitation.
