Amalia Ann Splawn (née Shiretzki), Beloved Mother and Faithful Servant, 1935-2024
It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we mourn the passing of Amalia Ann Splawn, affectionately known as Molly, of Gainesville, Georgia, on March 24, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on September 12, 1935, Molly's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her boundless love for her family, and her commitment to serving her community.
She was a daughter, sister, niece, cousin, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, stepmother, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, friend, mentor, neighbor, and volunteer. Most importantly, she was a child of God, a born-again Christian.
Molly was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Bobby Douglas Splawn Sr. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication through her children, Michael Barber, Paula Kelly, Donna Mims, Maryanne Snedegar, Angie Dutton, Jennifer Martin, Bobby Splawn Jr, Michael Splawn, Renee Howell, and their respective spouses, and her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous beloved individuals she welcomed into her heart as her own. She was preceded in death by one of her great-grandchildren, Briana Hampton. She is survived by all three of her siblings David Shiretzki, Sara Hortin and Rose Goolsby and her Brothers-in-law Stan Hortin and Mike Goolsby.
After retiring, Molly found joy and purpose in her beloved Gillsville Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the prayer group and the kitchen ministry. Her passion for helping others, ministering to anyone in need, and her love for the Lord were the cornerstones of her life.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Molly's honor at Gillsville Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Shannon Rhodes officiating. The family will warmly welcome friends from 12:00 pm until the time of the service.
Molly's message to all was to embrace the promise of John 3:16, reflecting her deep faith and hope in eternal life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gillsville Baptist Church, a cause close to Molly's heart and a reflection of her lifelong dedication to serving others.
Molly's legacy is one of love, faith, and generosity. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her to live with compassion and faithfulness.
